Deann, so sorry for your loss. One month after my brother Gabe was the godfather to my daughter Gia (when she was 3 mths old...and was created after two invitro attempts and lots of prayers) my brother was killed in a house fire. He was 38. It's been 3 years. 6 months after his death I lost another brother...to liver disease, he was 48. My heart breaks for you...I'm glad your dad was able to hold Parker...but that is just not enough, I know. I wish you all the best...I followed your blog because of your mention of a golden retriever, I love dogs! But have found someone...sad like me. Your loss is so new...wish I could say something more. Sincerely, Gretchen
Deann, I'm so sorry that you're hurting. Such an emotional story. One thing you don't have to say is "if only"....because you were there for your Dad and he was there for you, and it looked like you had a wonderful relationship... he knows that, as he smiles down to you and your family.
I live in a small town with my husband of over 4 years. I graduated from Nursing school in May, 2009. Now, I am enjoying and appreciating my time at home as a mother and a wife. Josh works hard everyday, 7 days a week. He farms with his family, yet his heart lives in a business venture on the outskirts of town, known as Carolina Country Fresh(produce).
On August 23, 2009 I gave birth to my son, Parker Bennett Roberson at 4:07am. That evening around 6:30pm,after holding his grandson,my wonderful father left the hospital and was killed in a car accident. Needless to say, I am learning how to grieve and cope with the loss of my father and being a new mother all at the same time. I have decided that I will now use this blog to help sort through feelings and emotions that are otherwise left smothered inside. I hope that one day these words will find their way to someone who may need to know that they arent alone during such a confusing time of loss and gain when it comes all at once.
